Broad Run voters deserve a choice.

The only Broad Run School Board candidate on the ballot is Kevin Kuesters. Broad Run contains nearly all of the Broadlands and Ashburn Village, and this is the best we could get? Mr. Kuesters was arrested on Tuesday, October 4, for assaulting his wife. Mr. Kuesters chose to send all of his children to private school, yet he wants to manage our public schools. Mr. Kuesters declared bankruptcy last year and had lawsuits filed against him this year by the Ashburn Farm Association and the Westmaren Condominium Association, but he touts his financial background to manage our school budget. This is simply unacceptable. Broad Run voters deserve a choice.

Passionate for public schools.

Joy grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland, when its public school system was consistently rated best in the nation. She taught for five years in the Frederick County, Maryland public school system. While we all understand parents who choose to send their children to private schools, we want someone who is passionate about public schools as our School Board representative. Loudoun County Public Schools do an excellent job at educating our children, and that needs to be supported.

Facing our economic and growth challenges.

It's no secret that Ashburn has had incredible growth in the last two decades. Unfortunately, we're not able to build schools fast enough to keep up. On top of that, the current state of the economy means we have less money to spend on our schools while we have more students to serve. We need to continue to find efficiencies and think outside the box to maintain the education that our schools provide our students.
